ABOUT THE SHOW: Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" is a retelling of the biblical story of Joseph, a favored son whose jealous brothers sell him into slavery in Egypt. Through a series of trials, Joseph discovers he has a gift for interpreting dreams. His ability ultimately earns him power in Egypt and leads to an emotional reunion and reconciliation with his family.

What to Prepare:
Please prepare 16 - 32 bars of a song in the style of the show.
If auditioning in person, please bring sheet music accompaniment in the correct key. A pianist will be provided. Acapella or pre-recorded music will not be allowed.
Optional Dance Audition: Although a dance audition is not required, it is strongly recommended as many rolls require some movement.
If auditioning in person, the dance can be prepared by watching the choreography video.
If auditioning virtually, please upload a video with your audition form of the routine.

Rehearsal info:
Rehearsals will begin in mid-May, Mondays - Thursdays with possible Saturday mornings. Not everyone will be called to every rehearsal. Tech week will be July 11th - 16th.
Performances:
Friday, July 17th at 7:00 PM
Saturday, July 18th at 7:00 PM

Character Breakdown
*Many of the following roles may also be cast as members of the Ensemble
JOSEPH: Male, Tenor - Eleventh and favorite son of Jacob. Confident and charming. Vocally strong.
NARRATOR - Female, Mezzo Soprano - The audience’s guide through the story. The narrator tells Joseph’s story with word and song. Can command the stage while directing focus to story elements. Strong singer with great energy.
PHARAOH: Male, Baritone - Egypt’s ruler, considered a god on Earth. Searching for meaning behind his dreams. Typically portrayed as Elvis Presley in mannerisms.
POTIPHAR: Male, Baritone - Rich, self-indulgent and sophisticated. Makes Joseph the leader of his household. Strong character actor with a powerful speaking voice.
MRS. POTIPHAR: Female, Alto - Indulgent and confident in her pursuit of what she wants, which at this time happens to be Joseph. Dance recommended.
JACOB: Male, Baritone - Father of Joseph and his 11 brothers.
BUTLER: Male or Female, Tenor or Mezzo - Pharoah’s right hand. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Butler’s dream to be a positive outcome.
BAKER: Male or Female, Tenor or Mezzo - Head of Pharoah’s kitchen. While in jail, Joseph interprets the Baker’s dream to a less-than-positive outcome.
JOSEPH’S BROTHERS: Male or Female, Various Ranges - Jealous of Joseph being their father’s favorite son. Skilled dancers and singers.
WIVES of JACOB AND SONS: Female, Various Ranges - Dance recommended
ENSMEBLE: Male and Female, Various Ranges - Actors, Singers, Dancers serving as Ishmaelites, Egyptians, Canaanites, and other characters within Joseph’s story.
YOUTH CHOIR: An integral, onstage storytelling that frames the musical as a story being told to them by the Narrator. They provide a bright, energetic vocal backdrop, enhancing the show’s "pop cantata" roots, while often appearing throughout the performance to add youthful enthusiasm and choreography. Ages 10+.
